Samsung may update low-end devices to Android KitKat

Samsung is considering to update not only their high-end devices, like the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S4, which will be done in January 2014, but also some of the lower-end ones.

Below is a leaked image of a table showing some Samsung models, which are considered for the KitKat update. Some of them include the Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy S3 mini, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame, Galaxy Ace 2 and the Galaxy Fresh. Nothing is sure though, because those devices may not be able to run the operating system smoothly so first stability tests have to be performed.

The optimized Android KitKat operating system now requires only 512MB RAM but that is without the TouchWiz skin on most Samsung phones.

Apparently not only Samsung is doing reserch - Sony is also planing updates for their Sony Xperia SP and Sony Xperia ZR.
