Could we see a waterproof iPhone in the near future? According to a patent filing the Cupertino giant is interested in making it's products waterproof. The way Apple may achieve this is by coating the device's internel components with hydrophobic substance. A variation of between one and then microns will be sufficient to save someone's iPhone if he or she drops it in a puddle, for example.
And what about the connectors? They will also be protected by silicone seals.
This type of technology will allow Apple to maintain the way their devices look and, at the same time, protecting the devices from moisture. But let's not forget that Sony and Samsung also use this method to protect their devices from liquids by sealing of ports.
