iOS 8 and iPhone 4S first thoughts

Every peace of electronics has its time and place and I think it is about time, that the iPhone 4S stepped aside. I am almost certain that the iOS 8 is going to be the last major update for this old friend. Let's not forget that the Apple A5 chip in the 4S only offers about a quarter the raw performance of the Apple A7 in the iPhone 5S (the A8 in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus widens the gap yet further).

It just feels, that, on iOS 8, most apps can take up to about 50 percent more time to the same task compared to iOS 7.

Let's not forget, that the 4S's small 3.5 inch screen feels a bit filled up by the iOS 8's interface. It just feels... cramped.

So should you upgrade to the new iOS 8? In my opinion you should wait a bit, for a new update, say iOS 8.1, maybe? But if you are using the iPhone 5, iPhone 5S or the iPhone 5C do not hesitate to upgrade, as performance should not be a problem with those devices.
